Homes

This is a post directly related to the "Taikyoken Class" post from almost 2 months ago. It's about homes. So, for the architecturally interested, this may be of interest. For those that doesn't do it for, well, you might not enjoy it as much. Mostly pictures this time. Lots of them. There are a couple more pictures and thoughts there.

First some interesting features.

The garage-gate combo. 2 gates next to eachother with a garage under each. Many are lined up in a row even on rounded streets, making an interesting wavey line.

US Mailbox? in Midorigaoka...? Okay...well, they'll deliver Japanese mail into it anyways. The address is artificial though.

Balcony

Cute wall. The house is actually very western otherwise.

Now some houses. It is interesting to note that people think these are "Western" or "American style" houses, in all cases below. Try to figure out why. No, really. I'm totally missing. People are usually really surprised when I tell them no one has houses that look anything like that anywhere I have ever been or seen.

These last two are things you'll see around every house bieing built. Narrow yards mean stuff falling from the tall, narrow houses can be a problem. This is the solution for Japan.

These are debris-shields

Debris-wall, complete with advertisings for the company that is doing the construction and some warnings not to do something stupid. They are even kinda pretty.
